Tavern Logo

Post by Seeress of Kell »

Since we've got a shiny new Tavern to play in, I thought we needed a shiny new Tavern logo, so I slapped a few together. Perey suggested I post them here to see which one everyone prefers, so here they are:

Logo 1
Logo 2
Logo 3

I'd agree - none of them are bad, but the first one is the best IMHO.

Gonna go with the majority -- first one is best (I find it the easiest to read).

I liked the first one best as well, but I have a stupidly large font collection so I thought I'd try a few others. I definitely wanted something easy to read.

(FYI, the font in the one everyone is choosing is called "Ale and Wenches." Appropriate, no? :P)

I two four like the first one best, but I do think the barrel could stand to be a bit smaller, and the word 'the' needs to be just a point size or two bigger. At the moment, the barrel is dragging my attention to it, but we really want the name to be the part that stands out.

Is this more what you had in mind?

Also, I made the barrel not completely transparent, so it'll still show up well on a darker background. And I changed the text shadow to a shade of blue that matches the blues of the page.

Yes, but you're going to hate me for this, also no. Now the words 'Mallorean Tavern' are too big, it feels like I'm being shouted at (unless of course, you haven't changed the font size there, in which case, it's all about the barrel). Also, the barrel is too small now. I probably wasn't as clear as I should have been before... I think the barrel needs to be just a tad smaller than the words, but not hugely so.. I'm thinking the top of the barrel on the same line as the crossbar of the 't' in 'The'.

I think the image as a whole was just bigger, higher resolution than the first - which is not really a problem, because once I get the barrel-to-word proportion right, the whole thing can be scaled up or down as needed.

How's this?

That's perfect.

And I can't help being picky about this stuff, it's in my genes.

Well, the general consensus was logo #1, but then Morey came along with alterations... so if everyone's happy with it, our shiny new Tavernkeeper can eventually get around to using the altered version as our new logo.

Just a quick note, love the idea, really do, but I can tell that since work hasn't progressed here for a while there is little enthusiasm - may I suggest an alternative, say... a picture of me, looking stern and imposing, as should adorn the websites of all in awe of me and my machismo? With me fixng the viewer with my overbearing, commanding visage, say?

Just a thought!

P.S., only kidding, I think the design is great, but where is it? Vperod, people, forward, imshee, schnell! :D

Who exactly is our illustrious leader now? It's alright to tell me, I assure I won't hurt them at all. No - that's what the staff is for!

School holidays start in 2 weeks, I'll bring it up then.

Technically, Peregrine is the senior boss-man, but given that our cats rule the roost in our house, it's probably Bodie and Ollie who are in charge!

You do realise that hirelings can demand to be paid? Seeress is going to start demanding a salary. And shipping shrimps and worms (typical lobster-food) to her could be expensive.

Seeress, have you thought of joining a union and demanding union rates of pay? The current rates are at least four shrimp a week.
