New tags

Post by Peregrine »

Please use this thread to request any new BBCode tags you would like to have available. I, meanwhile, shall use this thread to announce them when they become available.

For instance, I have just added the long-desired "spoiler" tag.
Spoiler!
Use them in the traditional manner: [code][spoiler]Like so.
[/code][/spoiler]

Because spoiler tags tend to get (ab)used a lot for creating collapsible blocks to keep things like images from bloating the page, rather than to hide spoilers, I have also added a very similar "fold" tag that's specific to such use (and has a customisable title).
Example
This is an example, created like so: [code][fold=Example]This is an example, created like so:
[/code][/fold]
You can also leave them without a title, like so: [code][fold]You can also leave them without a title, like so:
[/code][/fold]

How about text alignment? I really want my signature centered... it's driving me nuts being left-aligned.

Those are awesome!

It's not really a new tag, but is there any chance of a multi-quote button?

I already asked about that one - there's a lot more work involved than just setting up a tag. Maybe we'll get one eventually. :P

Moreta has pointed out that exclamation marks and apostrophes can't be used inside the new "fold=" tag.

Unfortunately, this is the way it is. If you want something other than letters, numbers, hyphens, and spaces in your title, you'll have to make your own title paragraph, like so:

Code: Select all

[b]It's a free-form title? Woohoo![/b][fold]No title included.[/fold]
The result:
It's a free-form title? Woohoo!
No title included.

I have discovered that (something like) this already exists.

When you go to make a post, scroll down. There's a "Topic review" of all the most recent posts to the thread, down below the post options. And every post has a "Quote" button on it.

It's not perfect, but I think it should meet a good 90% of multi-quoting requirements.
